About Elaine Partnow The woman who pioneered the gathering together of the thoughts, theories and witticisms of the world’s women in one colossal volume is now available to bring to you her vast knowledge of women in public life, women in the arts, women in business. Elaine Bernstein Partnow, author of several books, among them the now classic The Quotable Woman, started off as an actor, and has appeared in many films, tours, and off-Broadway. Her newest publication is The Quotable Jewish Woman, and she has also published The Female Dramatist and Everyday Speaking for All Occasions (a Doubleday Book Club selection), among others. The 5th edition of The Quotable Woman, subtitled "The First 5,000 Years," is also available. As a keynote speaker, Ms. Partnow’s presentations are informative, highly entertaining, peppered with quotations and witticisms, full of surprises -- and stunning dramatizations! Specializing in living history portrayals of some of the world’s most dynamic women, with the simple addition of a hat, a jacket, or a string of pearls, she transforms into women ranging from Eleanor Roosevelt and Bella Abzug to Murasaki Shikibu and Juana Ines de la Cruz to Sophie Tucker and Mae West. She has presented to tens of thousands of women, men and children all over the U.S.A., as well as in Mexico and China. Audiences are invariably moved and inspired Born and raised in Los Angeles, she majored in Theatre Arts at UCLA, then studied acting with the great Uta Hagen in New York, where she lived for some years. She has also lived in New Orleans and Seattle, and continues to travel to all those places from her current home on a small island off the coast of North Florida where she lives with her husband, her rat terrier, Deva, her Jack Russell terrier, Pip, and her cat Nexus, along with myriad wading birds, song birds, opossums and raccoons. Ms. Partnow has been included in many editions of Who’s Who in American Women, Who’s Who in Entertainment and Contemporary Authors. She is also the online editor of “Women of Wisdom” on the award-winning web site, www.feminist.com.
